Cascara tea is made from coffee husks, offering a sweet and fruity flavor with hints of rose, artichoke, cherry, and mango. Enjoy it hot like traditional tea, with dried rose and honey or rock sugar, or serve it over ice for a refreshing summer drink.

CHARACTERISTICS OF CASCARA COFFEE FROM RIPE COFFEE PELLETS

Light scent of dried fruit: Coffee itself is a fruit, and the ripe coffee pod has its own characteristic scent depending on the type
Light sweetness: The separated coffee pod contains the entire fruit flesh in the sweet ripening process. When dried, the fruit flesh loses water and sugar is retained, making the tea have a light sweetness

Contains caffeine: Of course, coffee pods contain the same amount of caffeine as their beans. This will prevent insects from destroying the beans. Beans from highland areas with less pests have less caffeine than beans grown in lowland areas – and tea from Robusta coffee pods will have more caffeine than Arabica pods

Contains healthy antioxidants: The benefits of tea are always like that, starting the day with a pot of Cascara tea and sweets will help you stay awake and work tirelessly

Limited quantity: because production only lasts for about 3 months of the harvest season. Whether or not a batch of cascara can be used depends entirely on the weather’s favor. Cascara cannot be completely machine dried, as this causes the tea to lose its natural flavor which is only retained if dried in the sun.

BASIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAKING CASCARA TEA

There are 2 ways people often use to make Cascara tea: Steep like regular tea and boil. Each method has its own flavors that drinkers should try to choose the right brewing method for themselves:

A. STEAK CASCARA TEA LIKE MAKING REGULAR TEA

You need to prepare 10 – 20g Cascara + Teapot or French Press, Chemex + Hot water: You brew the tea like black tea. You can divide it into many brewing rounds as long as you still find the flavor. Use with sugar or honey.

If you drink tea with ice, after adding ice, you can soak it with a slice of lemon or lime, making the tea an irresistible refreshing drink.

B. MAKING CASCARA TEA BY COOKING TEA
This method takes time and effort, but the results are quite surprising and positive!

Preparation:
Cascara: 10g
Rock sugar: 20g or more if you have a sweet tooth
Rose tea: You can use fresh rose petals if you have the conditions
Dried cinnamon: If fresh, it’s even better but I’m afraid it’s a bit hard to find
Preparation:

Step 1: Put sugar and cascara coffee with 1 small cinnamon stick in a pot and boil with 400ml of clean water. Note that you should add sugar and tea at the same time, not after boiling

Step 2: Boil until the teapot boils, simmer for about 3 minutes

Step 3: Add dried rose petals or fresh rose petals into the pot, and continue boiling for 1 minute

Step 4: Pour into a cup, add honey, drink hot or let cool with ice to enjoy the wonderful cool taste of Cascara coffee tea

Step 5: Add 400ml of water and continue repeating from step 1 to have a second cup of tea that is just as delicious as the first

The above are 2 ways to make Cascara tea that iCup often uses. You can create other ways to make it that suit your taste better. Hope you have delicious cups of Cascara tea!
